For 5 years I ran a podiatry service for seniors. I love working with older people and relish the pearls of wisdom for life and the delicious recipes that they share with me.

On a medical note, older people are often in a higher risk group for complications arising from serious medical conditions such as diabetes, peripheral neuropathy and vascular disease to name a few as well as biomechanical issues arising from surgery such a hip or knee replacement (e.g. different leg lengths).

I feel older people require great attention to ensure that they remain safe from falls, whilst remaining as independent as possible in caring for themselves. Treating thickened or diseased toenails, reducing painful soft tissue lesions like corns and callouses and advising on appropriate footwear is just the start of providing a comprehensive service for my elderly patients.
